A manufacturing plant in Rochester expects to add one to two dozen more jobs in the coming years after adding on to its facility.
Kerry celebrated the completion of a $28.6 million expansion Wednesday with a ribbon cutting.
The company produces fermented ingredients, which are natural additives that help preserve foods.
Based in Ireland, Kerry has locations around the world.
Its Rochester facility employs 125 people.
Company representatives say the expansion follows increased demand for their products.
"Consumers want to replace chemical preservatives with natural, clean label ingredients that will protect the food and that’s what we manufacture at this site," said Michael Matthews, Vice President and General Manager of Kerry’s. "Demand has increased greatly, and so we’re expanding to keep up with that demand and it’s really drive In by consumer’s demand for natural foods."
Kerry expects the new jobs to be in a variety of fields, from equipment operators to microbiologists and chemists.
The products produced in Rochester are shipped all over the world.
