Chateau Theater renovation likely delayed after expected move at city council

Plans to reopen the historic Chateau Theater after minor renovations are likely getting delayed.

Rochester City Council could follow staff recommendations Monday night and reject current bids from contractors, which exceed the budget for the project.

The city says splitting up the work, which includes weather proofing and some interior change, will make it affordable but also push back a potential opening until mid-2019. Up to $1 million had been set aside, but the lowest bid came in at $1.12 million.
