ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – It’s a comfort food that goes perfectly with these first few days of fall: chili.
The Boys and Girls Club of Rochester hosted its 10th annual Chili Challenge Thursday afternoon at Peace Plaza.
About 3,000 people flock there every year to sample chili from more than 25 restaurants, businesses, and community groups.
The teams are competing for top honors from professional and local celebrity judges, and for approval as the "fan favorite."
"It’s fall, it’s Minnesota, it’s one of those kind of comfort foods that everybody loves and there’s so many ways to make it," said Naura Anderson, Chili Challenge Co-Chair. "We’ve seen things from a curry chili to a seafood chili, gumbo style. All different kinds of recipes and it’s really fun to see the creativity and innovation that people bring to the chilis that they make for this event.
There was also a homebrew contest, with entries from local homebrewers and craft breweries.
