ST. CHARLES, Minn. (KTTC) – Police arrested 30-year-old Zane Pederson of Spicer for an armed home invasion and assault case in St. Charles.
Officers arrested Pederson on Monday, executing a search warrant at his Kandiyohi County home. Officers say they found clothing the victim was wearing during before the assault.
According to the criminal complaint, on November 18th of 2018, Pederson walked into the victims home where a young child also lived. He had a handgun at the time. The complaint goes on to say he zip-tied and assaulted the victim three times eventually leaving the home several hours later. Pederson told the victim during the assault that he would harm her and the child if she went to police or told anyone. A family member eventually convinced the victim to report the sexual assault later.
Pederson’s DNA is also on file from a pending sex assault investigation in another Minnesota county.
Officials say the Monday arrest was without incident and Pederson admitted to being in the victim’s twice before the assault and on that day.
“Thank you to the business and the private sector who allowed law enforcement to, review and look through their video surveillance camera for any leads that, would of possibly helped out in the investigation,” says Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude.
Officials are not saying if it was indeed the surveillance camera that led to the arrest, but they are saying it was helpful.
Pederson appeared in court Wednesday and is being held $1 Million bail. He does not have any prior arrests.
