UPDATE: Details on apparent knife attack at Salvation Army’s Castleview Apartments

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – UPDATE:  Police say a group of people were drinking at about 8 Tuesday night at the Salvation Army’s Castleview Apartments.

A man asked another for his phone. He handed it over, but it was locked.

When the suspect asked for the pass code, he was denied.

Police say that’s when he became upset, and took out a knife and machete, and threatened to kill the victim.

The victim cut his hand when he grabbed the suspect’s arm.

When police arrived, both men had left.

The victim had taken himself to the hospital. Police eventually interviewed him, which led them to the suspect.

20-year-old Jose Delgado was arrested Wednesday. He faces 2nd-degree assault, terroristic threats, and theft charges.

Authorities say Delgado had been arrested recently for wielding a machete in a downtown skyway.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — Rochester police said one man was cut with a knife Tuesday evening after a threat and then a physical confrontation at the Salvation Army’s Castleview Apartments in downtown Rochester.

Police said one man was taken into custody before noon Wednesday and an investigation is active.

Captain Casey Moilanen tells KTTC two friends were just “hanging out” in a room when a disagreement developed.  One man reportedly threatened the other, then cut him.

The wounded man may have gone to the hospital on his own for treatment but Moilanen said he apparently was not seriously hurt.  Both men had left Castleview Apartments by the time police arrived.
