Alex Martin Prepares for Home-Track Race

MILLVILLE, Minn. (KTTC) – Millville’s very own Alex Martin is sporting a new bike as he looks to win at the track he grew up on for the very first time as a pro.

Martin switched from KTM to a Suzuki bike this year, and is rounding into form on his new bike as he heads into a course he knows like the back of his hand. Martin’s parents, John and Greta, built the course and Martin and his brother Jeremy grew up riding on it every day they could.

Martin currently is 9th in the class 250 standings and has been racing well recently, with strong finishes in each of the last 3 stops in the circuit including a 3rd place finish in the second moto two weeks ago at Red Bud.

Martin is excited to get back to Spring Creek, and no longer feels the pressure he used to feel at his home track.

“Earlier in my career maybe [I felt] more pressure but I’ve matured and learned how to handle it,” he said. “It’s always good to be home. People are happy to see you and they want to see you race in front of the hometown crowd. That’s a positive thing. It definitly zaps away your energy and stuff and make you kind of over think or maybe try too hard, but to me it’s just another race and I’m happy to be home.”

Martin’s brother Jeremy, a two-time 250 class circuit winner, will not race at Spring Creek for the second straight year. He’s recovering from a broken back, and is expected to resume riding activities in August.
