ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – With the start of school next week, it’s time to say goodbye to one of our favorite Thursday traditions. Thursdays Downtown has been a summer staple in Rochester for more than a decade.
To wrap up the summer, Thursdays Downtown brought in a musical guest with promise to leave with a bang. You watched him on The Voice – and Thursday you could have heard him strumming his guitar right here in town. For its final musical act, Thursdays Downtown brought in Chris Kroeze and basing off of the massive crowd, he did not disappoint.
You may remember Chris Kroeze as the runner up in season 15 of NBC’s The Voice. Since his TV debut, Kroeze has been busy; releasing another album and touring the country in his Small Town Strong tour.
Before Rochester’s show, Kroeze met and ‘selfied’ with a few Rochester fans. He says he had to make a stop in the med city to play for his fellow mid-westerners.
“It’s always nice to play within five hours ways from home. I’ve always wanted to play in Rochester, never have,” Kroeze said. “I don’t know, a couple of my cousins went to college here and talked about how fun it was and I always wanted to witness that.”
Kroeze is headed to his home state on the next tour stop, but as for what other musical acts are coming for Thursdays Downtown, we’ll just have to wait until next year. One things for sure, they’ll have big shoes to fill!
Rochester Downtown Alliance believes this year records in attendance. As of last Thursday, the head count was 208,000. Thursdays Downtown started as a small vendor market in 2004 and has grown into a massive summer long event with about 115 vendors make it downtown every week.
