Local arcade store celebrates the end of summer

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – The countdown to the start of school continues and what better way to wrap up summer than a party?

Machine Shed video game.Machine Shed – a Rochester arcade – hosted a food truck festival and back to school bash to end summer on a high note.

Outside the store, folks could grab a bite to eat, watch live art.. try their hands at archery.. and of course, play video games. Along with the fun, festival go-ers could compete in a “007 Golden Eye Tournament” on the Nintendo 64 – with the winner taking home a game cube!

Event organizer Noah Ahkre says its the “vintage” games that are gaining popularity.

“I think video games, ah, well they are a big part of our culture,” Ahkre said. “They’re getting bigger and bigger, 007 Golden Eye video game. people are getting a lot of nostalgia for the older games, and we are here to help ya fulfill that.”

The back to school bash wrapped up at 9 p.m. The Machine Shed has been in Rochester for three years.
