ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – MnDOT has reopened Interstate 90 in Austin after a portion of the freeway and low-lying areas were flooded.
It is illegal to drive on any closed road and drivers can be fined up to $1,000 or sentenced to 90 days in jail, according to a press release from MnDOT.
As storm systems passed through the region, it was lights out for thousands of people in Rochester.
“We were without power here for a short period,” said Sheriff Kevin Torgerson of Olmsted County.
RPU crews were deployed across town working to restore power. Lightning strikes are the suspected cause of the power outage for more than 7,400 customers.
