State Patrol: Man flees Rochester traffic stop, crashes vehicle

NEAR CHATFIELD, Minn. (KTTC) — A Harmony man is facing multiple charges after fleeing from state troopers during a traffic stop and crashing his vehicle.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a trooper responded to a driving complaint on Highway 52 near 65th Street in Rochester.

State Patrol said the trooper conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Silverado driven by 34-year-old Lahai Kamara of Harmony, at Highway 52 Southbound and Civic Center Drive.

Authorities said that while the trooper was gathering information from Kamara, he fled from the traffic stop and was southbound on Highway 52.

Authorities said Kamara lost control of the vehicle on a curve on Highway 52 mile marker 30 South of Chatfield. The Chevrolet reportedly entered the right ditch, struck a culvert and came to final rest.

The State Patrol said Kamara was taken to St. Marys Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The State Patrol also reported that alcohol was involved.

Kamara is facing charges of 4th degree DWI, reckless driving and fleeing in a motor vehicle, the State Patrol said.
