Austin elementary school recognized as one of nations healthiest

AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) — An Austin elementary school is once again making waves in the cafeteria and on the playground.

Announced on Monday, the Sumner Elementary School is being called one of the 355 healthiest schools in the nation.

It’s the third straight year Sumner has been recognized by the organization “Alliance for a Healthier Generation,” which gives out scores based on: cafeteria food, getting students to move around more, offering high-quality health and physical education, all while empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.

Sumner is the only Minnesota school recognized this year.
