ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — Rochester Police officials are discussing a reported threat at Kellogg Middle School earlier this month.
According to a statement Tuesday, RPD says it was notified by a School Resource Officer on October 11th that a student reported they were threatened by another student with a gun the previous day. The statement also says school administrators and the School Resource Officer were not aware of the incident until the morning of the 11th.
RPD says school administration and the resource officer acted quickly to find the weapon and person who made the threat. The weapon turned out to be an airsoft pistol.
Following those discoveries and subsequent investigation, a 13-year-old boy is now facing felony charges including:
- Threats of Violence
- Brandishing a Replica Firearm on School Grounds
- Possessing a Replica Firearm on School Grounds
The incident remains under investigation.
