Man arrested after allegedly stealing car at Rochester gas station

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — In the cold weather, it may be tempting to leave your car running. But a recent incident in Rochester may have you thinking otherwise.

According to the Rochester Police Department, 28-year-old Shanden Ristau was arrested for stealing an 85-year-old man’s car.

Police said the man had left his 2017 Honda Civic running outside of a Holiday Gas Station on North Broadway Avenue when he went into the business around 4 a.m. on Monday.

RPD said officers saw the car in the 400 Block of 7th Street NW and later stopped it near 4th Avenue.

Ristau is facing felony charges of theft of a motor vehicle.
