PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) — Kosovo prosecutors have brought murder charges against a group of six ethnic Serbs for the killing of a moderate Serb leader.
A prosecutors’ statement Monday considered the six Serbs an organized criminal group that committed or helped in the killing of Oliver Ivanovic, who was gunned down in the Serb-dominated northern part of the Kosovo town of Mitrovica in January 2018.
Three of the charged Serbs are at large and an international arrest warrant has been issued for them.
The charges do not make clear who committed the slaying.
It adds, however, that since 2011 they had been operating in northern Kosovo and had influence on police, local authorities and public enterprises there.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but Belgrade refuses to recognize it.
