ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Tuesday marks a milestone for a house that has been life-changing for many families. Staff and patients at the Gift of Life Transplant House are celebrating 35 years in Rochester.
The non-profit was founded in 1984 by Edward Pompeian who had received a kidney from his mother. It was an 8 bedroom home with a goal of providing affordable housing for transplant patients.
The Gift of Life Transplant House now has two facilities with 84 guest rooms. The house provides affordable lodging for 4,100 guests and their caregivers annually.
