Rochester community helps out Rushford family

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) - Christmas time is a season for giving. In Rochester, visitors to the Eagles Club helped out a family in need.

The Cords family lost their home Halloween morning in a house fire. Their community of Rushford held a well-attended fundraiser for the family.

Saturday, the Med City hosted a similar event. Food, baked goods, a silent auction and a live band entertained guests.

Domanic, the Cords' oldest son, and Erin's sister Amy, remember that night.

"Shock," said Amy Bulke. "Just pure shock."

"It was scary and traumatic but everyone is alive and that's all that matters," said Domanic Zelinske. "We're taking it one step at a time."

Domanic says that his family is grateful for all the support from the communities.
