ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) - Fun, fitness, and fellowship. That's what softball means to a group of Rochester seniors who are taking a swing at a good cause.
The group meets at the Rochester Community College dome to hit the ball around and keep the fun going through the winter.
Friday morning, the group is raising money for the Salvation Army.
They plan to raise $5,000 by the end of the week, as well as donate socks, hats and gloves.
Donations will be matched by the Mayo Clinic and other organizations.
"We have a theme called "Go to bat for the Salvation Army,'" said Gordan Haubenschild, a senior softball player. "We try to make a huge hit for the community by stuffing the kettles with money. That money is then generously multiplied through matching grants."
Everyone is invited to meet at the RCTC dome Friday morning from 8 to 10:30.
