Snow chances remain in the forecast

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Light snow will be possible over the next 72 hours in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa. Temperatures will warm into the middle and lower 30s making this a difficult snowfall forecast.

Timing / Totals:

Snow will move into the area during the early morning hours Wednesday. Moderate snowfall will be possible at times during the morning commute. I do expect roadways to become slick during the morning commute Wednesday. Make sure to give yourself some extra time in the morning!

Snowfall totals will be very sporadic with this round of wintry weather. With temperatures warming to and just above the freezing point, some minor mixing could take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday which would limit snowfall totals.

Right now, confidence levels are lower on snowfall totals. This system will really be a wait and see type of event Wednesday through Friday. If temperatures do stay at or below the freezing point, our precipitation will stay as snow instead of a rain/snow mix which would grow our snowfall totals.

The main thing to take away from this forecast is that we will get some light snow with some bands of moderate snowfall at times on Wednesday. Roads will become slick and snow showers will linger into Friday.
