ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The former Shopko North building has new owners. Haley Comfort Systems plans to bring its operations under one roof. Co-owner Tom Haley has been looking to move for a "little while," and the former Shopko building is perfect for his needs moving forward.
Haley will not be the only tenant, however. Plans for the building include splitting it into three sections. A restaurant is slated for the western section and patio, the middle section will be Haley's, and the east side has 35,000 square feet available for another business to move in.
Haley plans on using windows across the building's front for more natural light, and adding a garage on the back of the property to house its work trucks. The parking lot will also be reworked.
Haley says, "We would like to be in here [demolishing] in the next month to 2 months, somewhere in there to just keep the project rolling. Our goal is to get some of our operations brought over from Plainview, then build our showroom area. Again, we're so much looking forward to getting everybody under one roof and working together."
Haley went on to talk about how his family situation played into the move. His three children and their spouses are all involved with the company, so he says it was time for them to catapult the business into the future with the eventual new management.
Haley says an aggressive timeline is to have the construction done and be moved in by this fall.
