ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- ETS Performance Rochester had it's grand opening tonight in the northwest part of town. The facility is co-owned by local legend Marcus Sherels and Vikings Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Adam Thielen.
ETS Performance Rochester is a state of the art training facility focused on taking prep athletes and giving them individualized training programs to maximize their athletic potential.
Across their 11 locations, ETS has trained more than 350 D1 and D2 athletes, as well as more than 100 professionals.
Sherels says bringing this level of training to his hometown will provide local athletes with a facility to take them to the next level.
"It will be a safe place where kids can be themselves and better themselves," said Sherels. "The trainers here are great. They've trained people at every level. It'll be a fun environment; very competitive, but it'll focus on character development as well and it will be good thing."
The facility's Director of Operations and Lead Performance coach is J-M alum Jake Kirsch… who played for two years at RCTC before finishing his collegiate career as a running back at the University of Minnesota.
Kirsch knows what it takes to get local athletes to where they want to be.
"We're going to push and evolve the programs of the kids based on their ability, based on their age, based on their sport. We treat them as the individual and that's the big thing," Kirsch said. "A lot of the time, when they're training at other places, they're just another number, another person that goes through the door. Here, we treat them as the individual. We leave no stone un-turned, and make sure progression is the only option."
