MANKATO, Minn. (KTTC) -- The Blue Earth County Attorney's Office has confirmed that the 16-month-old child who was hospitalized in Rochester with serious injuries has died.

According to the Associated Press, Chelsea Olinger, 27, of Mankato was arrested on Thursday, and accused of causing injuries to her child after she brought the unresponsive child to a Mankato hospital.

The AP reported that the toddler was later transported to a Rochester hospital with injuries the court documents say included "rib fractures, two broken vertebrae and a lacerated liver."

She reportedly told investigators that the child had fallen down a flight of stairs.

The Blue Earth County Attorney's Office said it is waiting to make a decision about charges until the autopsy results are in.
