Rochester Farmers Market categorized as an essential service, allowed to remain open during COVID-19 pandemic

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Amid the many cancellations being reported daily, the Rochester Farmers Market wants customers to know it will be open Saturday.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says farmers markets are exempt from closure because they are categorized as a grocery store and essential service. Olmsted County leadership agrees and listed the farmers market as an exception to the Graham Park closure.

Market manager Jess Joyce says there will be no food served on site. She also says there will be fewer vendors and more space between them. Everyone is encouraged to wash hands frequently at stations around the building and to practice social distancing.

The market will be open in Graham Park Building 35 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday.
