A stormy start to the week
A very warm and humid air mass is lingering in the region today, fueling thunderstorm chances in the area. Look for scattered, brief showers and thunderstorms in the area through much of the early to mid-afternoon with drier weather by early evening when breaks of sunshine will help temperatures climb into the lower 80s with a south breeze that will occasionally reach 20 miles per hour.
More storm chances through midweek
The slow-moving storm system responsible for generating today's thunderstorms will trigger a few isolated thunderstorms Tuesday, but there will be a little more sunshine at times to help temperatures reach the upper 80s once again. More widespread thunderstorms will move through the area Wednesday, but as it stands now, the severe weather risk will be mainly northwest of our area. A few isolated thunderstorms will hang around into Thursday with midweek high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.
A drier, hotter holiday weekend
Hot sunshine will be the rule for Friday and Saturday and much of Sunday looks decent before a few thunderstorms develop late in the afternoon. High temperatures for all three days will be around 90 degrees, and in some cases we could even see some upper 90s, so get ready for more heat and humidity for Independence Day weekend.
