Hy-Vee to hand out free masks, does not say it will require shoppers to wear them

(KWWL) -- Grocery store chain Hy-Vee says it will distribute free masks to anyone entering its stores starting on Monday, July 27.

A release from the company on Tuesday states the new initiative is called "Mask It Up To Shut COVID Down. It's Your Choice."

Hy-Vee will have employees stationed at the front of all stores handing masks to any shoppers entering that are not wearing one.

Currently, Hy-Vee employees are required to wear masks, but the company does not say it will require customers to wear them despite the distribution plans.
