Former Olmsted County commissioner dies after July crash

NEAR ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A former Olmsted County commissioner has died after he was in a crash in late July.

On July 28, a semi-truck collided with a Chevy Equinox in the intersection of Highway 14 and 60th Avenue NW.

The SUV, driven by 84-year-old James Daley, rolled onto its side into a ditch. He was taken to Mayo Clinic Saint Marys to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Daley passed away on Aug. 20 and a visitation to honor his life will take place on Thursday at the Byron Funeral Home, according to his obituary. His funeral will take place Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

He was a long-time IBM employee and served as an Olmsted County commissioner from 1978 to 1986.
