Showers and even thunderstorms return to SE Minnesota and NE Iowa on Thursday. A weak low-pressure system will move across the area Thursday morning and bring the chance for scattered showers through the early afternoon. The best chance for moderate rainfall will be from 7 a.m until 12 p.m with skies slowly clearing through the late afternoon.
Rainfall amounts for areas along and to the east of Highway 52 will range from a tenth of an inch to around a quarter of an inch Thursday morning. Some isolated areas in this region could see upwards of a half-inch of rainfall. Areas to the west of Highway 52 should expect lesser amounts of rain. Rainfall amounts should stay below a tenth of an inch of rain.
Looking Ahead to Next Week:
We'll see a quick drop in temperatures just after the weekend. Highs will drop from the 80s on Friday to the upper 50s for high temperatures on Tuesday. Overnight lows next week could potentially drop into the 30s Wednesday and Thursday nights. We'll keep a close eye on our first possible frost and freeze of the season next week.
I've limited the rain chances for Saturday. Skies will stay cloudy and a couple of isolated showers are still possible, but widespread rain activity looks extremely unlikely.
