Mild temps for the remainder of the week; chilly weather next week

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Mild, but unsettled today

The small storm system that brought heavy rainfall to Rochester and a big portion of the area earlier today is moving quickly on to the east. We'll have occasional sunshine in the wake of the system with still a chance for a few isolated, brief showers and perhaps a thunderstorm with high temperatures in the lower 70s.

Isolated, pop-up showers will be possible until 4:00 PM with occasional sunshine in the area.

Rainfall totals from this morning

Breezy, summer-like Friday

Warmer air will again blow into the region on Friday ahead of another storm system that will be approaching from the northwest. We'll have sunshine and a few fair-weather clouds during the day tomorrow with a gusty south breeze occasionally reaching 30 miles per hour and high temperatures will climb into the lower 80s for the third time this week.

A mild weekend with some rain

Clouds will thicken early Saturday and it looks like we'll have some widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in th late morning and afternoon hours. High temperatures will be mild despite the clouds with most spots likely reaching the mid to upper 70s with a light south breeze.

Sunday looks bright and mild behind Saturday's storm system with a fair amount of sunshine in store for us, a cool northwest breeze, and high temperatures in the more seasonable upper 60s.

Much cooler weather next week

A larger storm system will slide into the region from the northwest on Monday, dragging a cold front through the Upper Mississippi Valley late in the day. We'll have a few light showers and isolated thunderstorms in the area late Monday and Monday night and high temperature in the mid-60s and a brisk breeze.

Much cooler air will pour into the area on Tuesday behind the cold front and light rain will move in from the northwest during the day with a raw, gusty northwest breeze adding an extra chill at times. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s Tuesday afternoon.

A few spotty showers will be possible Wednesday on the backside of that large storm system as it edges its way to the east. We'll have occasional sunshine and a brisk northwest breeze and high temperatures will only be in the mid 50s.

High pressure will settle into the region from the west late in the week, bringing drier weather for Thursday and Friday and temperatures will be cool and very October-like for the first couple of days of October and highs will be in the 50s to lower 60s. Morning low temperatures for those days may be rather cold with upper 20s to lower 30s possible meaning a widespread frost or even a hard freeze will be possible as it stands right now.
