CANNON FALLS, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester firefighters said a "dramatic" chemical reaction left one person injured in Cannon Falls on Thursday night.

According to a news release from the Rochester Fire Department, around 5 p.m., two chemicals had mixed together by accident at the Gemini Signage facility, resulting in a strong reaction. One employee of the manufacturing facility was hurt after being exposed to the chemicals.

The fire department said one employee received medical treatment for injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

The Cannon Falls Fire Department had requested help from Rochester firefighters in determining any potential danger of the reaction.

When firefighters entered the building, they found there was no risk of further reactions. However, the building was contaminated with the unknown product, making it unsafe for employees to reenter.

The fire department said a professional contractor will need to clean the area before the building can be occupied again.
