ROCHESTER, Minn.(KTTC) - No one might've had a better weekend than Gavin Gust.
"Gavin Gust he's a very talented kid, loves to compete," said Ryan Lehnertz, Dover-Eyota Head Coach.
This past weekend, the Dover-Eyota sophomore wrestler captured his 100th win.
"100 wins, its hard to get its hard to get around here. Our section is very tough and for him to get it as a 10th grader is kind of almost unheard of," Lehnertz said.
It's a huge milestone, but Gavin's not thinking about that, he's already on to the next one.
"It's hit a little bit, not too much. Felt like any other match really didn't really hit too hard but yeah," said Gavin Gust.
For him it was any other match, but for his dad and assistant coach Aaron Gust it was anything but.
"I knew he was going to have a tough match for his 100th win so I was nervous and you know hoping obviously he'd win that match then it came down to the end where he won by takedown," said Aaron Gust, Gavin's father and Dover-Eyota Assistant Coach.
"Afterwards you know they gave him the 100 win sign and he didn't want to go out on the mat to hold it up for everybody. Just kind of the humble kid that he is."
The accolade itself didn't mean much, but it was validation of all the time and work that Gavin has put in.
"Any sport that he's in he's training, he's lifting weight, he keeps his cardio up. He just wants to be the best in whatever he does and just so proud of him and excited that he got his 100th win as only a 10th grader," said Lehnertz.
All that hard work has led Gavin to a huge milestone, a 4-0 record this season and the no. 4 ranking in the state at his weight, but he has his sights set on more.
"My biggest goal is being number 1 at the state tournament and that's final goal this season," said Gust.
For now he'll get another accolade, Dover-Eyota's Gavin Gust this weeks KTTC Athlete of the Week..
