AUSTIN, Minn. (KTTC) -- Austin Public Schools is on the verge of picking its next superintendent.
The Austin School Board's search is nearly complete to replace retiring Superintendent David Krenz, who is leaving by the end of the school year. The school board is interviewing its final candidates over Microsoft Teams at 1 p.m. on Thursday, according to a news release.
Among three finalists for the position is the leader of Byron Public Schools. Joey Page has been superintendent of Byron's public school district since July of 2017.
Page is competing against someone already within the district. Lori Volz, the executive director of finance and operations at Austin Public Schools, is also in the running.
The third finalist is Joseph Libby, the executive director of teaching and learning services at West Des Moines Community Schools.
Those three candidates were chosen following an initial round of five interviews earlier this week.
