We've been chasing records all February long, but we're finally looking at a nice stretch of weather as the month wraps up. If the month were to end today, we would be in second place for the coldest February on record in Rochester with an average temperature of 2.8°. We will have 5 more days at or above-average temperatures...so that will increase our monthly average temperature. Even with the brief warm-up, I still think we will have a chance to stay in the top 5.
Temperatures will be right around freezing Wednesday and Thursday with overnight lows in the lower 20s. Highs will bump back into the middle and upper 30s Friday and Saturday.
With the warmer temperatures across the country this week, the snow cover has been basically been cut in half. Only 35.1% of the country now has snow cover compared to 73.2% last Monday. With the warm temperatures expected through Saturday, more melting will take place.
