A mild Friday

Tranquil, mild weather remains the rule across the region today as we move toward the weekend enjoying a continuation of the spring-like spell of weather that started earlier this week. High pressure is slowly drifting through the Upper Mississippi Valley, setting the stage for yet another pleasant day today as clouds will gradually break up in the morning allowing for some breaks of sunshine at times. Sunshine will increase throughout the day with afternoon high temperatures in the low to mid-40s and just a hint of a southerly breeze.

Warm weekend sunshine

Warm air will continue to build into the region for the weekend on the backside of that large area of very slow-moving high pressure that will drift to our southeast. Expect a mostly sunny sky for our Saturday with temperatures warming nicely from the 20s in the morning to the mid-40s in the afternoon with a light southeast breeze.

A warm front will move through the region on Sunday, allowing warmer air to blow into the area. We'll have occasional sunshine and clouds during the day with gusty south winds ushering in that warmth at times reaching 30 miles per hour in the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low to mid-50s which is about 20 degrees above the seasonal average.

April-like weather early next week

We're going to enjoy abundant sunshine with lighter winds to start the upcoming workweek next Monday and high temperatures will be in the mid-50s.

Temperatures will be even warmer Tuesday even though clouds will be thickening for the afternoon hours ahead of an approaching storm system and its associated cold front. We'll have sparse, spotty rain showers later in the day with gusty south winds and high temperatures will be in the upper 50s. A few spots will likely reach the lower 60s Tuesday afternoon!

Wednesday looks a bit cloudier and more unsettled as the cold front works its way into the area. We'll have occasional light rain with high temperatures in the mid-50s and a brisk southwest breeze.

Seasonably cool late next week

We'll have occasional sunshine with a few spotty rain showers next Thursday and high temperatures will be in the mid-40s. The days that follow right now look sunnier, but a bit cooler and more mid-March-like. We'll have sunshine in the area from next Friday through next weekend with high temperatures around 40-degrees.
