Rain chances continue through Friday; slightly cooler days are ahead

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

Mild with some showers today

Our unbelievable stretch of mild weather continues today with a little less sunshine than the past couple of days. Aside from spotty sprinkles early in the afternoon, we'll have bright, dry conditions for the rest of the day. A few breaks of sunshine will also be possible later in the day, coupled with a mild southeast breeze to warm temperatures into the mid-60s which is more than ten degrees above the seasonal average. Shower chances will build late this evening and tonight with temperatures slowly falling into the upper 40s.

Cooler with more showers Friday

Clouds will thicken Friday as the center of that storm system wobbles its way through the southern part of our local area, bringing more widespread rain to the Upper Mississippi Valley. We'll have occasional light rain throughout the day with a slight westerly breeze and high temperatures will be in the mid and upper 50s. Showers will become widely scattered and rather spotty by the evening hours as the system pulls away to the northeast.

Spotty Saturday showers

Saturday is looking even cooler and more seasonable with a mostly cloudy sky likely throughout the day and a brisk northwest breeze. A few brief, spotty rain showers will be possible as a weak disturbance grazes the area to the south. High temperatures will be in the mid-50s making that the first true example of typical early April weather we will have experienced since late last week.

A bright and pleasant Sunday

A weak area of high pressure will brush past the region to the south, bringing quiet, tranquil sunshine for Sunday and it looks like a pretty mild day for seasonal standards. Expect afternoon high temperatures in the lower 60s with just a hint of a northwest breeze.

Cooler with sparse rain chances next week

A weak storm system will slide into the region from the west Monday, bringing a few scattered showers to the area. We'll have breaks of sunshine at times between those showers with high temperatures in the lower 50s.

Cooler, drier air will pour into the region on cold northwest winds Tuesday behind Monday's storm system. We'll have high temperatures in the upper 40s which will be almost ten degrees cooler than the seasonal average and quite a departure from the warmth we've been experiencing this week.

A few sparse rain showers will be possible next Wednesday with occasional sunshine possible and high temperatures will be in the lower 50s.

Aside from a small chance for some light rain late next Friday, the latter part of the week and following weekend looks drier with typical mid-April temperatures reaching the low to mid-50s each day.
