Police: 1 person shot in the leg Saturday in Mason City

MASON CITY, Iowa (KTTC) -- One person was injured in a shooting in Mason City over the weekend, police are reporting.

According to the Mason City Police Department, officers responded at about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday to a report of multiple shots fired at 1st Street NW and North Madison Avenue.

Officers found a person with a gunshot wound to the leg. The person was taken to MercyOne North Iowa by Mason City Fire Department to be treated for the non-life-threatening injury.

The victim said he had been walking down the street and was shot.

MCPD said it believes this incident was targeted, not a random shooting.
