A "Severe Thunderstorm Watch" is in effect for areas in pink until 10 p.m. tonight. Storms in these areas could be strong to severe through the late evening.
Some scattered strong to severe storms are still "likely" in the areas highlighted in red above. Our storm threat locally has lowered slightly because of the storms that moved through earlier this afternoon.
Storms are expected to develop along a slow-moving cold front after 5 p.m. tonight. We'll have to see how quickly the atmosphere recharges after the passing storms from this afternoon. The main threats are shifting to large hail and gusty winds. The tornado threat continues to diminish. The best chance of stronger storms still remains south of I-90.
As we look ahead to the upcoming weekend, highs will be in the middle and lower 80s with sunny skies Saturday. We'll see the return of showers and storms on Sunday with highs in the lower 80s. Cooler temperatures are expected early next week.
