Steamy and a bit stormy today
A very warm and humid air mass continues to build northward into the region today ahead of a storm system that is approaching from the Plains. Sunshine has re-emerged in the wake of this morning's light rain to warm temperatures into the 80s and lower 90s. Heat indices will be in the 100 to 105 range for the late afternoon. A Heat Advisory will be in effect until 9:00 this evening.
A major severe weather outbreak is likely across the heart of Wisconsin late this afternoon and evening and our area will be on the far western periphery of the activity. While much of Wisconsin faces the possibility of large-scale wind damage and several tornadoes from those storms, we're expected just a few isolated thunderstorms a few of which may generate strong wind gusts, some hail, and locally heavy rainfall.
Not as humid Thursday and Friday
High pressure will settle into the region in the wake of today's storm system, drawing in some slightly cooler and much less humid air for the latter part of the week. Expect mostly sunny skies throughout our Thursday with afternoon high temperatures in the lower 80s and a north breeze that will reach 15 miles per hour at times.
We'll have a few extra clouds in the area on Friday as a storm system brushes past the area to the west. Otherwise, it looks like a bright and mild day with high temperatures in the lower 80s and a light southwest breeze.
Mild weekend sunshine
A weak cold front will slide through the region Saturday afternoon, possibly producing a stray shower or two in the area. Otherwise, we'll enjoy a bright day with fairly comfortable humidity levels and high temperatures will be in the mid-80s.
Sunday looks sunny and pleasant with high temperatures in the upper 70s and a light northwest breeze.
Seasonably warm next week
High pressure will hang around to start the upcoming week, keeping our weather bright and quiet. High temperatures will be around 80 degrees to start the week with sunny conditions. Temperatures will slowly warm to the mid-80s late in the week with the lone chance of thunderstorms coming on Thursday.
