ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- Rochester police responded to a robbery call at Sterling State Bank, 10 25th St. SE, around 9:40 Friday morning, according to RPD Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson.
She said a male suspect did not display any kind of weapon but did leave the bank on foot with an unknown amount of cash.
About 30 minutes later, the same suspect attempted to rob a bank in Pine Island.
According to Goodhue County Sheriff's Office, shortly after 10 a.m., deputies were alerted to an attempted robbery at Pine Island Bank in Pine Island.
A Goodhue County deputy spotted an person matching the description of the suspect driving a vehicle west of Pine Island. The vehicle headed south on Highway 57 and was pulled over around 10:20 am in Dodge County. A Goodhue County deputy arrested the suspect, and and custody was turned over to the Rochester Police Department.
The Pine Island School was put on lock down during the search, as a precaution. Lockdown was lifted once the suspect was apprehended.
RPD and the FBI are investigating the incident.
