ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — His name is Russ Gunvalson, he lives in Rochester, and he’s got an amazing story of survival to tell.
Dial back to 1945 — World War Two — Russ, still a teenager, heads to Europe to join the battle, only to be captured by the Nazis and thrown into a POW camp where each day became a struggle to survive.
Many didn’t, but Russ held on, keeping a mantra of six words that helped to keep him going through the long nightmare.
