Cannon Falls is in need of volunteers

A tornado wiped out power for most of Cannon Falls on September 20, causing it to be unsafe for volunteers to clean up the damage.

Now that power is back up, the city of Cannon Falls is organizing a volunteer clean up day for Saturday September 29. The volunteer times Saturday would be 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and a lunch will be provided to cleanup volunteers. Tree services that may wish to volunteer are asked to call 507-263-3905. All other persons interested in volunteering are asked to wait until Wednesday as details are finalized.

The city is asking residents in need of any trees cut down or cut up, to either do so before Saturday or put a sign in the yard on Friday so that trained and approved volunteers will know to cut the trees. Also, only brush should be put out to be picked up, the Brush Dump currently is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

As details on the cleanup day become finalized they will be posted on the City of Cannon Falls Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/cannonfalls/?ref=br_rs
