Shannon joined the KTTC team in August 2016 as a weekend anchor, producer, and reporter after graduating from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in Radio TV Film and minors in Music and Communication.
While at UNT, Shannon worked for her campus station, North Texas Television, as a news anchor, producer, and reporter. During her time there she covered Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign rally in Dallas and interviewed Grammy award winner Bobbie McFerrin. Additionally, she co-anchored a Texas-Emmy winning newscast that provided live coverage of Texas’ gubernatorial election between Greg Abbott and Wendy Davis.
Before moving to the North Star State, Shannon interned with CBS 11 in Fort Worth and WFAA in Dallas. While with the latter station, she helped cover a mass shooting that killed five Dallas police officers in July 2016. President Obama and President Bush flew into town days later to address the victim’s families and other police officers. It was during her time at WFAA that she fell in love with news and storytelling.
Shannon was born in the Lone Star State, but has Minnesota ties. Her mother was born and raised in Winona, and her aunt was Miss Minnesota in 1976. Shannon is excited to return to her roots and explore all that Minnesota has to offer, especially its thousands of lakes and cheese curds! 🙂
In her spare time, the Texas native likes to workout, read a good mystery novel, play with her five-year-old cat named Mila, and travel to new cities in Minnesota and Wisconsin with her boyfriend.
Shannon most recently traveled to Dubai and Kenya where she went on a five-day African safari and was nearly stampeded by a herd of elephants after the car she was in stalled in the mud. Her life truly flashed before her eyes.
