Power bills to decrease in Austin

AUSTIN, Minn (KTTC) –  Customers in Austin are going to save some money on electricity in 2019.

The Austin Utilities Board of Commissioners approved the 2019 utilities budget and announced residential and business customers can expect a 1.9% decrease of their power bill starting in January.

The decease is due to a decrease in wholesale power costs.

Customers can expect to pay the exact same in gas in 2019, because of a long-term pre-pay contract.

Customers will also see an increase of 2.9% for water because the city is continuing to invest in the water infrastructure.
