Rochester Area Foundation celebrates 75th anniversary

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) –  The Rochester Area Foundation is celebrating 75 years of helping people give back to the community.

The organization hosted its annual Celebration of Philanthropy event Thursday at the Marriott Downtown.

Staff from the Foundation are recognizing community donors, area nonprofits, and grant recipients, while also highlighting some of its accomplishments over the past year.

The foundation helps people donate their money to good causes and also gives out grants and scholarships throughout the year.

Last year, donors gave almost $3 million dollars through the Foundation, and 275 nonprofits benefited.

“We are comprised of generous donors who have invested in Rochester Area Foundation,” said Jennifer Woodford, Rochester Area Foundation President. “They don’t give to Rochester Area Foundation, they give through the Rochester Area Foundation. So we are their main vehicle for philanthropy and using their investment to do good in the community.”

Thursday was just the start of Rochester Area Foundation’s 75th anniversary celebrations.

Expect more big events to mark the milestone over the next year.
