Rochester park changes name to honor activist

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) –  East Park received a name change that honors a historic activist.

The park located at 1738 E Center Street in Rochester was renamed on December 4 after a vote by the Rochester Park Board to “Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park”

The MLK Community Action group initiated the change and organizers believe the change was an opportunity to better create a strong and inclusive community where everyone feels a sense of belonging.

A dedication ceremony and celebration of the name change will happen on January 21.

The entire community is welcome to attend.
