ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Are you looking to up your garden game this spring? Seven people in Rochester could get the chance to do just that.

The 2019 Realize Rain Gardens Rochester Cost-Share Program will award seven grants of up to $750 for a new rain garden — covering design, plants, mulch, related materials and labor.

A rain garden is made of native shrubs, perennials, and flowers planted in a small depression, designed to temporarily hold and soak in rain water runoff from roofs, driveways, patios or lawns.

Both residential customers and non-profit organizations located within Rochester city limits are eligible for the grant.

Applications are due on May first of this year, more information can be found by clicking here.

For anyone interested in applying, there will be a rain garden planning workshop at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12 at Cascade Meadow – St. Mary’s University.
