Rochester hotel workers cheer new union contract

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Members of a Rochester hotel workers union are celebrating after it announced a new three-year contract.

Unite Here Local 21 approved the deal Thursday with new hotel management. The group represents workers at the four downtown Kahler Hospitality Group properties.

The new contract includes a 2-percent annual pay increase for all non-tipped union workers. Some workers are getting an 18-percent pay increase in the first year and improved vacation schedules.

The union president called it a “welcome relief” after a four-year battle with old management.
