Snowmobile fatality adds sour note to Cresco’s “Snowfest”

LIME SPRINGS, Iowa (KTTC) – We’re learning more about a fatal snowmobiling accident near Lime Springs, Iowa.

The Howard County Sheriff’s Office says late Friday night, 28-year-old Ross Wilson was driving his snowmobile alone on a trail along Major Road when he lost control and rolled over.

The Medical Examiner pronounced him dead at the scene after other snowmobile riders found him.

Wilson had recently joined the Driftrunners Snowmobile Club in Cresco, which is celebrating its 49th annual Snowfest this weekend.

Snowfest President Brandon Plaht said you could feel the somberness of the club as members collected donations for Wilson’s family over the weekend.
