ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Curling continues to grow in popularity, especially coming off the gold medal performance by team USA in the last Olympics.
With a fire going and stones being thrown, the Curling Club of Rochester is hosting its first outdoor tournament this weekend at Little Thistle Brewing Company.
Curlers played for five hours Friday evening.
Participants include members of the Curling Club of Rochester and Owatonna Curling Club. They’re also on hand to answer any questions about the sport.
“Well if someone wants to come out and doesn’t understand the sport…they ask any one of the curlers, ‘whats going on’ and someone will actually explain how to play the sport,” said Duane Hebert, Rochester Curling Club Vice President.
Curling will continue Saturday at 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
This is an official Rochester Winterfest event.
