POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) – The man accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts in Iowa last summer now has a trial scheduled to begin in September.
According to online court records, Cristhian Bahena Rivera will now stand trial beginning Tuesday, September 3 in Poweshiek County.
An initial trial date in the case had been set for April of 2019.
Tibbetts’ body was found on August 21, 2018. The 20-year-old University of Iowa student had been missing for more than a month.
Tibbetts was pursuing a career in psychology.
