TRACKING NOW: Light Snow Continues Through Today

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC)  Light to moderate snowfall continues for most of the area today adding to the already impressive snowfall we experienced in the overnight hours.

Updated forecast from Your Weather Authority

Meteorologist Ted Schmidt predicts an additional inch or two will accumulate during the late morning and afternoon and won’t be completely finished until early evening, although the afternoon snowfall will be much lighter overall.

Blowing snow will become a major factor in our weather after 3:00 this afternoon as gusts are expected to reach 35 miles per hour. Winds will slowly subside around midnight, meaning blowing and drifting will carry on through the evening commute and even the hours beyond.

Snowfall Totals for Southeast Minnesota

Roads will be slick and snow plows will be out to clear their roads.

Rochester has a nine inch surplus to date this winter and is only 7.6 inches away from reaching the average amount for an entire winter. That could happen this week with today’s heavy snowfall and lighter doses of snow anticipated Thursday and Sunday.
