ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) As prime tornado season approaches, Rochester’s Emergency Management Divison is making progress revamping its warning siren system.
Four different sirens throughout the city are receiving upgrades. Wednesday afternoon, the system along 65th street northwest and highway 52 was spotted receiving some renovations.
Two of the siren systems will include new voice commands to better alert folks outside at parks or playing on the fields.
These upgrades and new installations comes from the Capital Improvement Project funds.. and is a result of improving identified sound gaps within the city.
The other siren renovation locations include Watson Field off Essex Parkway Northwest, Badger Hills Drive Northwest at 50 Avenue Northwest and College Parkway Southeast.
